Media Insights develops and delivers in-house media and PR training courses, engaging and insightful sessions covering basics, current trends and best practice in the media business, media relations, and brand and corporate communications.
We offer a menu of half-day Primer Sessions for clients to choose from which are outlined below, or we can develop bespoke courses to suit a client’s specific needs. Half-day courses start from just £499 (plus travel expenses if outside London) for up to fifteen people.

This half-day Media Insights course provides an overview of the UK news industry in 2013, including newspapers, newswires, news broadcasters and online services. It looks at how different services compare and compete, what goes on behind the scenes, and how the news industry is changing.

This half-day Media Insights course considers shifts occurring across the media industry as publishers tackle the editorial and commercial challenges posed by the internet, and what that means for PR professionals.
EFFECTIVE JOURNALIST RELATIONSHIPS & COMMUNICATIONS | INFO
This half-day Media Insights course looks at how PR executives can build effective relationships with journalists and editors, at how to write and follow up press releases, and how to gauge whether an announcement is genuinely ‘newsworthy’.
SOCIAL MEDIA FOR CORPORATE COMMUNICATORS | INFO
This half-day Media Insights course explains the opportunities and challenges social media present all organisations, and those managing companies’ communication activites and corporate reputation. Going beyond consumer-facing social media PR campaigns, it considers the role of social media as a communication channel to all stakeholders, as a powerful research tool, and as a phenomenon that can help and hinder a company’s reputation.
These courses are led by Chris Cooke, a business journalist, media entrepreneur and communications expert who has been writing about and advising on the media and content industries for over a decade. Chris provides training and consultancy via Media Insights, and is also a key trainer for the Taylor Bennett Foundation.
Media Insights is a Corporate Affiliate of the Institute Of Continuing Professional Development. For those professionals with non-specific CPD commitments, Media Insights training courses relevant to your profession can count towards CPD time.
